During the third quarter of 2024, the SaCoDé Women and Youth Friendly Health Center Project (CDSAJF) in Gatumba continued its mission to provide quality care to the local community.
Consultations and treatment :
CDS ADJF welcomed a total of 1,140 patients, including 161 children under the age of 5. The center provided comprehensive care, including 8 patient transfers to hospitals for specialized care and 8 minor local surgical procedures.
Analysis of laboratory tests :
The laboratory department carried out 833 tests, revealing the following results:
Fighting monkeypox disease
To reinforce the fight against monkeypox, the CDS ADJF organized 5 awareness-raising sessions which reached 60 people attending the Center. These sessions covered barrier measures, modes of transmission, clinical manifestations, as well as possible complications linked to this disease. These efforts are aimed at informing and protecting the local community during a period of health vigilance.
Sexual and Reproductive Health Education (SRH)
As part of the Hinduka Uhindure Abandi project, dedicated to sexual and reproductive health education, the center ran 14 awareness-raising sessions on the fight against STIs for 111 women and 2 sessions for 12 young members of our VSLAs. In addition, 57 women consulted the family planning service, including 27 seeking clarification on modern contraceptive methods and 30 seeking further advice on their current methods.
The Centre de Santé SaCoDé Ami des Jeunes et des Femmes continues to play an essential role in the health of the Gatumba community.
In addition to providing curative care, the ADJF Health Center has been offering youth and women-friendly services over the past three months. In this context, 45 young people have been accompanied in the prevention of HIV and STIs, 34 young people have benefited from follow-up for unwanted pregnancies, and 16 women have adopted a contraceptive method of their choice after being listened to and advised on the subject.
